When the manufacturer rates a fan, at say 0.50-in. TESP, and the system measures 0.83-in. TESP, airflow will typically be at 70% to 75% of capacity. At that airflow, heat transfer suffers significantly and the system performs poorly. Systems do not operate well outside of the manufacturer’s specifications. Cost to conduct this test depends on the size of the system.
It’s our job to fix the system by reducing static pressure when needed. This starts with an assessment of the air conveyance system and then the proper restoration and cleaning of the coils, blowers, air handlers, reheat coils, vav’s, dampers, as well as any other component within the ACS. At Better Quality Air, our technician’s follow each manufacturers' pressure settings (when available) that will result in improved energy efficiency, clean fresh air and a better working environment for your tenants.
